The Gripe: Part 1

I first noticed men hobbling about in ill fitting clothes with their hands down their pants back in the 90's. And fortunately,
i only experienced it watching films like Boyz n the Hood and Menace 2 Society. Granted, the films mentioned are worth a watch.
But it seems that gradually, this embarrassing bollock groping gesture seems to have been adopted by a certain group of the
British population.

For someone like me,growing up and living in Leigh is not easy on the eye. As much as i am proud of the Town and my roots,at times i also find myself
cringing at alot of the local youth. I understand that this is now an old topic but it never fails to piss me off when i set
eyes on one of these uncultured cretins. Call them what you like, chavs, neds, scallies or scroates. Like it or not, these cunts are the
majority in most British towns. Some people would argue and say they are a subculture, modern day skins and to some extent i suppose
they are. They originally attached themselves to music and i suppose it is a fashion movement[to an extent]
What im starting to notice is they seem to be evolving[if thats possible]. Some are even confusing themselves as
they seem to be concocting a parrothead haircut and fake diamond earings with shit cloth like Henleys,Ed Hardy and those
hideous Affliction tees. And ive also noticed the sudden interest from these whoppers in UFC[Another shite Yank import]
So long gone have the days that lads are claiming to be boxers at the time of confrontation, they have now adapted the
'Im a cage fighter,i will snap your arm' complex.Cringeworthy stuff all the same. Maybe i could kick you in bollocks if you'd briefly take your hands off them'
I even saw two orange coloured young men on the floor of the local nightclub giving each other a type of leg lock, which
again caused me to feel very embarrassed for them.

Back on to the clothes subject,i overheard another two scroates decked out in
Henleys talking 'clobber'. Apparantly, VOI jeans are the best jeans on the market. And the same gent also said that JD
is a chav shop[apart from Adi originals i Suppose i do agree but isnt he getting a little confused at to what catagory he falls into?]
It seems to me that these sheep are a little confused with their identity. I understand that not all wear the black
shitty nike tracksuits and may not consider themselves scroates. But the same people who do deck themselves out in
this gear are turning out on a night out in Henleys,G-Star,Ed Hardy are they not?! So this considered,is my argument
that they are not a British Sub-culture as they dont really know their true identity and dont aspire to be what they are...
.........Scruffy,chavvy cunts. Im sure we all have clueless or uninterested mates when it comes to fashion, and thats fine. But
theres nothing worse than someone trying to ridicule my Clarks Originals and cagoule combination whilst wearing a large, square
fake diamond earing with a pair of supposed 'raw' denim with big stitched numbers on the back
It could be argued that modern day
'casuals' and terrace fashions are led by an a clueless bunch. Lets face it,since the 90's SI is has been and is still the
'uniform' for alot of lads.
I suppose that rant is for another day,im going to end my gripe for now.
I have kids myself, and can only pray for an explosion of something cool for their/my sake. I fear the day when my Son walks the
streets litening to terribble music dripping with 'Bling'. Or the day my daughter looks like an umper lumpa and buys
some fucking massive earings. What has happened to the once great,cool,trend-setting Britain!!!!!!

Last of the summer.............ale!

Apologies for the delay with the posts. Im busy with the site and theres simply not enough hours in the day,so this topic is somewhat dated. About 3-4 weeks.

Anyway,i dont know about everyone, but for us Northerners, we had our last of the summer sun on a Sunday [some time]last month and so it was spent by my good self in the backgarden sampling some bottled real ale. I finished off the day with a good old BBQ. Just for anyone wondering about the first pic,its the 'morning after' snap as much to his amusement my little lad decided to leave the hose running just ever so slightly before we locked up for the night.

So a lovely 2 hours 'bailing out' with a bucket first thing was the perfect fuzzy head cure!

'Anti-Compass'

As the title suggests,a lot of dressers around the country are somewhat against Stone Island these days. And rightly so, the terraces[and most Town centres] have been awash with moody copies for some time now. So id agree that its a bit of a 'no no' at the football these days. If not to avoid the identi-kit feel it has now, it can also attract the 'other' unwanted kind of attention. Still, away from the match i still love some Stone Island pieces. I tend not to buy the very overpriced new stuff anymore but aim for whatever vintage stuff i can get my hands on.

Last week i managed to source a cracking vintage overshirt/jacket.

The colour probably isnt every ones cuppa but what can i say, i love it!
